With summer in full swing I thought it would be a good idea to try out some new places to eat since I typically end up sticking to my favourite restaurants. I came across Jamie Oliver's restaurant, Jamie's Italian in Greenwich and thought I'd share my views on it with you.
Italian Nachos, £3.95
Out of all of the things that I tried at Jamie's Italian I would have to say that the Italian Nachos were my favourite. Despite being described as 'nachos', they were completely different to conventional nachos. Instead of being presented with tortilla chips, I was served mini crispy ravioli which were stuffed with cheese and served with a tomato sauce, which increased in spiciness as you continued to eat it. I really enjoyed this antipasti and thought that it was a nice twist on traditional nachos. I also thought that it was beautifully presented.
Crispy Squid, £6.20
Crispy Squid is not for me! Despite the fact that it was seasoned with chilli, parsley and garlic, I found that the flavour of the squid itself was overpowering and very strong meaning that I could barely taste any of the other ingredients. However, yet again it was another aesthetically pleasing meal.
Mocktails:
Berry Blast, £3.50
Ginger & Mango Mojito, £3.70

I also tried out two of the non-alcoholic cocktails that Jamie's Italian had to offer and loved both of them!
The Berry Blast was a nice strawberry, passionfruit and cranberry fusion, bursting with flavour and very refreshing,
The Ginger & Mango Mojito tasted exactly like a classic mojito, just minus the alcohol, although the added mango juice was something that went unnoticed.
The Ultimate Burger, £10.95
Funky Chips, £3.85
The main course was a huge let down for me. I asked for my burger to be cooked well done as I am not a keen fan of rare meat, however it was overcooked meaning that it was very dry, the tomato and pickle adding some moisture to it. As well as this the burger bun itself was also unfortunately overcooked.
The Funky Chips were a lot better than the burger, with a strong flavour of rosemary coming through.
Chocolate, Pear and Honeycomb Pavlova, £5.45
This was again another meal that I was disappointed with. After such appealing presentation from the other meals, I found the pavlova's appearance underwhelming.
The taste itself didn't do much to lessen my dissatisfaction. I found the pavlova way too sweet and as well as that, the honeycomb didn't have the stereotypical honeycomb flavour. The pears didn't seem to be cooked for long enough as they were a bit hard. The one thing that I did like about this dessert was the cream.
Tangy Pineapple and Frozen Yoghurt, £5.45
The presentation of this dessert was very pleasing to the eye and the taste was good too. I enjoyed the pineapple with the frozen yoghurt and the added pomegranate seeds were a nice touch. However, I found that the poppy seed crisp added nothing to the meal.
I hope you enjoyed reading my first London life blogpost! Tell me what you think of it.
